Beginning in 2001, the Baltimore Grays were born with the vision of three longtime friends (William Caffee, Calvin Coates, and Ryan Shaw) who graduated from Baltimore City College High School in 1990. Our goal was to simply have a Men's team made up of City College Alumni. We started this team with the idea of controlling our own organization as softball players. We all were playing on other teams and not having a great deal of fun. As a result, we thought we could run a team better and become better players if we ran our own softball organization. Nonetheless, as the team's make up changed from an alumni team to a team of misfits, which included many early lopsided losses. The team name changed from the Knights (City College mascot) to the Grays; paying homage to the Negro League team called the Homestead Grays. Later in that first year, we added a couple more coaches; Milton Garnes (City class of 89), James Walls (City class of 89), and Mike Smoot (Walbrook Alum). Soon after, we added coed team. Later, a women team was added to the Grays family, which is coached by Lisa Parker (City class of 92).
This Team is in the league Lutherville Timonium Men's Coed Softball
